When is Ramadan in 2015

Ramadan in 2015 will start on Thursday, the 18th of June and will continue for 30 days until Friday, the 17th of July.

Note that in the Muslim calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Ramadan on the sunset of Wednesday, the 17th of June.

Although Ramadan is always on the same day of the Islamic calendar, the date on the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year, since the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar. This difference means Ramadan moves in the Gregorian calendar approximately 11 days every year. The date of Ramadan may also vary from country to country depending on whether the moon has been sighted or not.

In Islam, Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer. Fasting is one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. Each day during Ramadan, followers of Islam, known as Muslims, do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset

Variants of the phrase in Arabic

The Arabic phrase ʿalayhi as-salām , translating to "peace be upon him" is a durood or conventionally complimentary phrase attached to the names of the prophets in Islam. The English phrase is also given the abbreviation pbuh in writing. An extended variant of the phrase reads ṣalla llāhu ʿalay-hi wa-alehe-wa-sallam (Arabic:  "may Allah honour him and grant him peace", and it is often abbreviated saw in writing in an English-language context‎)
"Peace be upon him": (Arabic: علیه السلامʿalayhi al-salām - A.S.) - this expression follows after naming any prophets, or one of the archangels (e.g. Jibreel (AS), Mikaeel (AS), etc.).
"May Allāh honor him and grant him peace.": (صلى الله علیه وسلمṣallā llāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam - S.A.W., SAAW, or SAAS) - this expression follows specifically after uttering the name of Muhammad, although "peace be upon him" may be used instead
"May Allah grant peace and honor on him and his family.": (Arabic: صلى الله علیه وآلهṣall Allahu ʿalayhi wa-’ālih - S.A.W.W.) - this expression follows specifically after saying the name of Muhammad
"Peace be upon her": (Arabic: سلام الله علیهاsalaam-o Allah alayha - S.A.A) - this expression follows specifically after the name of historical righteous Islamic females, e.g. Asiya, wife of the Pharaoh and Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Brief Biography of Imam Mahdi (A.S

Name: Muhammad
Title: Al-Mahdi, Al-Qa'im, Al-Hujjah, Al-Gha'ib, Sahibu'z-Zaman
Agnomen: Abul-Qasim
Father's name: Imam Al-Hassan (AS)
Mother's name: Hazrat Narjis (SA)
Birth: Sha'ban 15, 255 A.H
Death: Still alive but in occultation

(The hidden Imam who is expected to return)

Imam Mahdi (AS), the last in the line of the Twelve Ithna Ashari Imams was born on 15th Shaban 255 Hijri in Samarra, Iraq. His father was the Eleventh Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) and his mother was Nargis Khatoon, grand daughter of the Emperor of Rum.

It was 8th Rabiul Awwal 260 Hijri when our Twelfth Imam led the funeral prayer of his father Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS). He was only Five years old, yet the whole crowd of muslims including the Abbasid caliph of that time Al-Mu’tamid followed the young Imam without question. Once the prayers were over and the Imam went inside the house, that the Caliph realised the full implication and significance of the occasion and he immediately ordered his soldiers to enter the house and search for the young Imam. They did not find any one inside the house. The Caliph was very angry at this incompetence of ministers and other officials who were unable to find a boy of five who had just led the prayers and had just disappeared. The caliph had no inkling of the secrets that God did not want to reveal. He went back to his palace and into the luxurious life of a playboy king while the world around him squeezed his empire into oblivion

The Imam’s period of lesser concealment began immediately after he led the funeral prayers and disappeared inside the house. This was in the year 260 Hijri.

The doctrine of ‘Ghaiba’ or concealment, declares simply that the Imam has been withdrawn by God from the eyes of people, that his life has been miraculously prolonged, that he has been seen from time to time, has been in correspondence with others, and has maintained a control over the guidance of the followers and the believers and the safety of Islam from its enemies

My dear God, warm me like the sun

My God

The reason why I cry may be because of your forgiving me. I don’t know; maybe it is because when I see your greatness, I feel my own weakness.

That I placed you in my heart, wasn’t because I wanted to fill my solitude; it was because I need you like every other one in this world.

I want every single tear to write your name on my cheeks when I cry. I want my tears to leave their trail and be born again when they reach the end of their lives.

Yesterday when I was passing by life with great pride, I thought life is that God, who must be in my heart. But I was wrong. Because when I lived it, I began to hate it. Then I traveled together with someone for a time. I thought he was so much the one God I was looking for. But when we went our separate ways, I found that he wasn’t also the right one. Thereafter I never think of anyone or anything in mistake for God.

My God is he, whose soul runs in me. Only he sees my cries, hears my voice and forgives me. He loves me whether I like him or not. He is always by my side; closer than anyone to me. God, place your mercy in my tears!
